WHAT’S POPPIN’ ATL?
Lil Waya’s Top 5 Things To Do in Atlanta (That the Grown Folks Sleep On) Written by: Lil Waya
“I’m not just outside—I am the outside.”
Yo! It’s Lil Waya checkin’ in
You ever scroll through them “things to do in ATL” lists and it’s just vibes for aunties and grown men who listen to too much jazz? Respectfully.
Lemme save you the scroll. If you under 25, love fun, and wanna be somewhere where your kicks, curls, and crew get compliments… I gotchu.
Here’s my Top 5 ATL Spots that’ll make your weekend feel like a movie:
1. Joystick Gamebar
Edgewood
It’s giving vintage games + hip-hop + late-night eats. You pull up for Pac-Man, end up in a Tekken tournament with a rapper from Zone 6. The wings slap too. Perfect mix of nostalgia and chaos.
Pro tip: Don’t challenge me in Mortal Kombat unless you ready to lose and get laughed at.
2. The Skatepark Under the Bridge
Historic Fourth Ward
This ain’t on nobody’s travel blog—and that’s why it’s fire. Real ATL skaters. Real graffiti. Real energy. Pull up with your board or your speaker and post up. Somebody always filming a reel.
Bring your tripod. It’s giving lowkey content gold.
3. Open Mic at Apache XLR
Doraville (new location)
If you got bars, pull up. If not, just watch. This is where the next big thing be practicing while folks still sleep. I’m talking poetry, rap, comedy—whatever. The crowd ain’t easy tho. Come correct.
Lil Waya tip: Spit a verse about Atlanta and watch the room go crazy.
4. Sweet Auburn Curb Market
Downtown ATL
This where I go when I’m tryna eat GOOD for the low. Real ATL food. No fake TikTok spots. You can get oxtails, birria tacos, banana pudding, and Jamaican patties all in one walk-through.
It’s giving food crawl vibes with your besties. Pull up hungry.
5. Trap Music Museum Late Nights
Westside
Yeah yeah, tourists go here. But do they go at night when the DJ’s spinning, the lights low, and the photo ops HIT? Probably not. That’s when the real ATL steps out. And the merch lowkey hard.
If you don’t leave with a fire pic and a new screensaver, you did it wrong.
Honorable Mentions (cuz I’m extra like that):
-
Sneaker shopping at Wish ATL
-
Edgewood bar hopping (if you grown-ish or got a fake
)
-
Piedmont Park but only when there’s an event—otherwise it’s just dogs and jogging
-
Waffle House on 10th at 3AM. Don’t ask why. Just go.
